For the second time in three years, the Hillsborough Township Fire District was dispatched for a structure fire on Super Bowl Sunday. This time, Hillsborough Fire District was dispatched to 2109 Jamestown Commons in Station 37’s primary area, at 1128hrs, for a reported chimney fire with smoke coming from the exterior wall of the chimney.
First arriving units reported a possible chimney fire with slight smoke showing from the exterior wall. Ladders 36 and 37 quickly opened up the chimney to find a working fire with flames venting out of the chimney, which was quickly extinguished. Crews inside the structure found smoke in the attic and master bedroom. The walls in both rooms were quickly opened up with the findings of more fire, which was also quickly knocked down. While crews were shutting off the power to the structure, two dogs were found in the basement and removed from the structure with no injury.
Units on scene were stations 36, 37, 38, and 48, Hillsborough Rescue Squad, Hillsborough Police, Hillsborough Township OEM and the Hillsborough Township Fire Inspectors. All units cleared at 1232hrs.
