Hillsborough Fire Company # 3 (Station 38) members marched in two parades during the Memorial Day weekend; Hillsborough parade on Saturday May 25 and Neshanic parade on Monday May 28 and also held a separate memorial service at the Station 38 building. Hillsborough Fire Company # 3 participated in the Hillsborough Township Memorial Day parade on Saturday May 26. This parade was extra special for the fire company members as Philip J. Gentile, former fire company chief, and his son, Philip D., were honored as co-grand marshals of the parade. Philip D. Gentile is a colonel serving in the nation’s capital as a military assistant to the Department of Defense undersecretary for intelligence, while his father served three years in the late 1950s.
The Hillsborough Fire District was dispatched at 8:16 pm to a structure fire at 663 Amwell Road in Station 36’s primary response area. The original call came in as a fire alarm activation and was quickly upgraded to a working structure fire in the single family residence. First arriving units located the fire in a second floor bedroom and quickly extinguished it. Responding fire companies were Hillsborough Fire Companies 1, 2 and 3, as well as Neshanic Fire Company, Finderne Fire Company, MillstoneValley Fire Company, Hillsborough Rescue Squad and the Hillsborough Bureau of Fire Safety.
